Singapore’s Last Artisanal Soya Sauce Making Family

Generations | 4:07 mins

Founded in 1959, Nanyang Sauce Factory is the oldest sauce brewery in Singapore that still keeps to the traditional artisanal way of making soya sauce – even if it takes nine months just to brew a bottle of soya sauce. As for Ken, the third generation successor of the factory, this was the place he grew up in and calls home.

Witnessing the business’ decline after his grandfather’s death, Ken decided to quit his job and open a boutique to carry his family sauce as well as to pay tribute to his grandfather’s teaching.
